DJ RECORDS

We are pleased to add three rather unique Music for Healing disks to the catalog page for the Vancouver Chamber Choir, one of the national treasures of Canada, directed by Jon Washburn. Unique, in that they are intended for inspiration for healing through this beautiful music. “Finding The Still Point” has Gregorian Chant interspersed among this classic choral literature and the “healing” in this album would be in the form of music therapy. “Unexpected Gifts” is packaged as a single disc which has short meditation thoughts narrated among the pieces; and as a 2 CD package, which contains the single I just described, but also has 13 of the same titles with extended narration about family thoughts when dealing with the serious illness of a child. The choir’s admirable intent here is to “inspire a safe ‘permission to talk’ time, when parents can put aside their own fears momentarily and talk to their children and to each other with openness and honesty. By encouraging gentle family time this album is meant to enable touching—to provide a respite from fear—to help parents reconnect with each other. In the midst of the chaos of hospitals, tests, and the unending, awful waiting, this CD is meant to provide a moment of grace.” To help clarify: If you are attracted to “Unexpected Gifts” for your own use you should not buy both packages, but rather the 2 CD set because the single disc is included in that package. Then, if you would be inspired to give that single disc as a gift I has been made available to you in that format. Bravo to VCC for adding this additional dimension to this offering! They reported to me that these discs have been received very well in the medical profession in their area.

Thanks,
Doug
